Mixed Reality applied to Waste Water Treatment Plants
ACCIONA has incorporated, in the wastewater treatment plant of Almunia de Doña Godina, virtual and augmented reality technologies, which allow, among other things, the early identification of system failures and their remote assistance. It has nothing to do with the old treatment plants and, in fact, when accessing it there is an unexpected profusion of computers, tablets and technological devices that enable this type of remote control for the evaluation of debugging processes.
Workers give orders through the computer system to optimize quality control, but virtual assistance to any operator is also possible. Likewise, augmented reality allows the monitoring of the facilities. All these technologies also ensure that in this plant the virtual control center is accessible from anywhere.
It is not surprising, then, that the training of workers is continuous: there are constant training actions in new technologies and at the same time new technologies improve training processes, since augmented reality allows simulating real conditions in which to test operations without risk.
