Application of advanced concrete technologies in the shell walkways over the Manzanares River for the Madrid Río project

ACCIONA Infraestructuras has built two shell-type walkways for the Madrid Río Project. These walkways are characterized by having a roof with double curvature of dimensions 49.08 m in length, and a light between supports of 43.46 m. In this work, ACCIONA’s R&D&I Department has applied with remarkable success two Advanced Materials technologies: the application of self-compacting concrete in extreme temperature conditions and the rapid deconfracting of structures by means of maturity control equipment, both technologies developed at ACCIONA’s R&D&I Centre in Madrid.
